In the article, ‘Speech to the Missionaries’ Jacket (n.d, p. 123) gives an analysis of how the white man was welcomed to India as a friend and was given food, land, and shelter as people believed in him. He alleges that later the white man turned greedy to an extent of wanting more than he had been offered. Even after stealing their land, the white man was not satisfied, as he wanted to force his religion upon them. In that case, Jacket gives various reasons for doubting the missionaries claim that his religion was the best giving his personal opinion concerning the role of religion and religious tolerance.
