Read Chapter 1,Need for a Learning Culture, in the eBookDeveloping a Learning Culture in Nonprofit Organizations. Explore other chapters on culture as necessary. Consider different organizational cultures you have been exposed to through perhaps school, your work, or your participation in some other institution (e.g., volunteer, religion). Then, come to this discussion prepared to share relevant examples from your experiences related to organizational culture in a nonprofit organization that you were involved in or one that you read about online. Specifically, in your initial post, address the following:

  • Describe the organizational culture in your situation or agency, and explain how this type of culture could impact service delivery in the nonprofit environment.

  • Do you think the organizational culture from your own example could occur in the for-profit environment? Why or why not?

Provide examples and support with the readings, where applicable.
In your response to classmates, provide recommendations to improve the culture described or to promote adoption of the culture at a different organization. Be sure to cite and supply the reference to sources that inform your recommendation so that everyone in class can fill their resources toolbox.
