Questions to think about for your summary of Chapter 4:How is the family important in the process of socialization? What role do schools play in socialization?What role do peers play in socialization?How are we affected by the social norms of groups we belong to?Are we socialized well to live in a diverse society?
This summary must be 2 complete pages. Any summary that does not meet that requirement will not receive credit. I have listed questions for each chapter in your syllabus. These questions serve as a guide and you do not have to answer every question in your summary. In general, if you have answered 4 or 5 of the questions in your summary, you have done enough. This summary should also follow standard essay format. do not want to see a summary that simply lists the questions and then answers them. A summary that is not in standard essay format will not receive a grade.

When it comes to socialization, family plays the most important role. It is not just the care and love we receive while growing up, but, our first set of rules, conventions and norms are taught to us by our family. There are three different kinds of society when analyzed broadly, namely, the pre-industrial society, the industrial society and the post-industrial society. Out of these three, family plays a major role in the preindustrial society and the industrial society.
The preindustrial society consists of many sub societies, such as, pastoral society, agricultural society and feudal society. Feudal society started in the 9th century. Feudal society was based on a strict hierarchical system of power based around land ownership. Which indicates family was the main and major factor in this type of society.
