a. What is a hazardous waste?
Hazardous waste may be defined as; “Waste which is risky
or potentially detrimental to
our health and/or the surroundings.” It can belong to all of the categories of matter means; solid,
liquid, and gas (Shusterman et al., 1991).
b. What are the responsibilities of a hazardous waste generator?
Proper disposal of waste stuff is highly desirable for the purpose of prevention of injuries
and minimization of ecological threats. Thus; a hazardous waste generator must perform
following responsibilities for optimum accumulation and organization of waste substances: (i)
labeling of dangerous materials, (ii) storage of risky stuff under ideal conditions, (iii)
transportation of waste to a pick- up site, and (iv) scheduling of cleanouts etc (Upton et al.,
1989).
