Introduction
Learning organization is a company with main focus on its member’s learning so as to bring about transformation continuously. (Peter Senge et al, 1990). “To be successful in a knowledge economy firms need to have necessary resources to create learning organization…” Don Tapscott. Knowledge economy can be defined as an independent and specific phenomenon that corresponds to modern changes in information, environment as well as communication technologies. It can be observed as step of civilization wherein economic relations are regulated so as to favor formalization, usage, production and expansion of knowledge. Human capital development is directly influenced by this being directly linked with reproduction of formal and non public knowledge. Knowledge tends to permeates via every important thing like products, people and organizations. To succeed in bringing knowledge economy in an organization, there is need to create learning organization with the use of resources such as systems thinking, mental models, team learning, shared vision and basic disciplines (Peter Senge at al, 1990). These resources help to bring about knowledge economy as well as there have been people always who tend to work with minds and not hands. These are known as knowledge workers who become key form of capital for an organization. For example, for computation of assets of new company like Netscape, instead of inventory, land, questions about managers and employees are asked.

There are several factors influencing the learning organization development. Compared to traditional leadership role, learning organization demands different leadership (Sadler, 2003). Changes in complex system are involved in forming learning organizations where in transformation of a complex system is difficult without a leader understanding situation, the people as well as goal along with actions so as to achieve transition. Leaders in learning organizations are responsible for building organizations where individual capabilities are expanded continuously so as to clarify vision, understand the complexity as well as improvement of shared mental model which is their learning responsibility. Leadership contributes in climate creation where there can be flourishing of organizational learning leading to really forming up learning organizations. They foster learning and enables members to analyze complexity followed by finding up new ways to solve the problems. Creativity along with new knowledge is thus developed in employees leading to learning seeking behavior which otherwise is a big leadership challenge in learning organizations.
As per Senge, in order to build a learning organization, three leadership roles are vital which include Leaders as designers, leaders as teachers and leaders as stewards. Similarly, 6 leadership roles are identified which include instructor, coach, mentor, knowledge managers, co-learners, coordinator (Marquardt, 1996).
