The research aims to analyse the ways, in which the personality of an organisational manager can influence employee motivation for the benefits of the organisation.

Motivation is one of the integral factor for improving the perfume of the employee. However, as argued by Ucbasaran et al. Therefore, this topic has been chosen for the research work to identify the impacts of personality of manager on employee motivation. The research will identify the impact on personality of manager on employee motivation in the retail sector of United Kingdom. TESCO being one of the most prominent retail chain in UK has been chosen for the research.
4. Background of the Research and Literature Review
Managerial Personality
The personality or the aura that the manager carries has a significant impact on the employees. The employees tend to follow their managers closely. Therefore, certain traits of managers can be found in the employees. According to the views of Lazaroiu (2015), the command that the managers has on their team affects the performance of the team. The manager may use a number of techniques to improve the efficiency of the employee such as training and others. If the manager is not efficient, then there are fewer chances that their team members will be efficient. The traits of the manager are reflected in their personality.
The way the managers conducts their day-to-day work indicates a lot about their personality. Employees wish to rise above their current position. Therefore, the employees try to imitate the actions of their manager. As per the opinion of Ahmad et al. (2014), if the actions of the manager are not aligned to the organisational goals, then the action of the employee will also be the same. The personality of the manager directly influences the nature and actions of the employees. The manager may be strict or soft natured. However, the way they get their work done effects the morale of the employees.
Employee Motivation
Motivation has a significant role in influencing the performance of the employee at the workplace. If the employees at not motivated effectively by the manager, then the employees productivity will decrease significantly. According to the perspective of Hur (2018), motivation by the manager helps the employee in overcoming stress and meeting deadlines. Every employee believes them to be cumbersome.
However, the manager’s motivation keeps the employee going. There are number of factors that affect the motivation of an employee.
