Human Resource departments in health care settings have evolved over the years to be more comprehensive. Human resources play a role in employee recruiting, training, compliance, compensation and mediation among others. Given that a typical health care work environment can be demanding and fast paced, consider how human resources can support health care manager in managing their staff.

Healthcare quality can be defined as the level of value added to any healthcare services provided by the care providers in the healthcare sector. According to Ross and Venka
tesh (2015), healthcare quality is important in the US because high quality of care services help service users recover from a disease sooner, manage an incurable disease in a proper way and live a better life. All of which causes high client satisfaction, which is very important for US, which is cited as one of the global leaders in healthcare services (Kamal & Cox, 2015).
Healthcare quality has improved in US in the past 20 years because mortality rates have decreased in this period, while infant mortality rates have decreased by 13% from 2003 to 2013 (Kamal & Cox, 2015). Life expectancy has also increased.
According to Momin et al. (2018), the federal government has attempted to improve healthcare quality by providing medical coverage such as Medicare and Medicaid for people, who are not US citizens and Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has attempted for better researches on cancer treatment.

The role of Human Resources (HR) in healthcare settings is to manage, recruit and train healthcare employees, so that they can improve their performance as well as services towards the support users (Acharya et al., 2017).
HR can improve employee performance by determining their job role, which should be specific for every employee. As suggested by Carayon et al. (2014), HR can also inform the employees about the ethical standards, professional codes of conduct and legal frameworks, the compliance of which can improve the latter’s performance largely. They can also assist the health managers in setting care standards, compensation packages, performance appraisal and establishing a healthy work culture so that their motivation to perform better is increased.

In terms of staffing needs, as mentioned by Houghton, Murphy, Brooker and Casey (2016), HR plays the important role of retaining clinical and non-clinical as per the organizational objectives as well as nature of the job. Therefore, they set criteria for recruitment, selection and training that can help to improve employee morale, career development; skills improvement and be able deal with challenging situations.
Hence, for this purpose, sharing of information in both verbal and written forms is needed between managers and HR so that they can communicate their needs of staffs needed to be recruited as well as the ones, prevailing in the organization can be improved in terms of their identifying their loopholes and eliminating them (Gutierrez-Gutierrez, Barrales-Molina & Kaynak, 2018).
