QUESTION #1 ( ONE PARAGRAPH) What are some of the legal and ethical issues involved for a police psychologist when performing fitness-for-duty evaluations? As a police administrator, what would you do to eliminate or decrease these issues? QUESTION # 2 ( 300 WORDS) You are a police psychologist who works in-house at your local department providing training, counseling and evaluations. The police chief is concerned about the ability of Officer Daniels to perform as a patrol officer and has asked you to perform a fitness for duty evaluation.  Officer Daniels is a decorated patrol officer who has been working for the local police department for seven years. In the last several months, several community members have filed complaints against Daniels for a variety of reasons including the use of excessive force, sleeping on the job and rude behavior. In the past two weeks, the police chief has received information that Daniels has been slow to back up other officers when called for assistance and has arrived to work late, looking disheveled. When Daniels started as a police officer you met a few times to discuss some family issues Daniels was experiencing but that was over five years ago.  In the thread titled Research Assignment, craft a 300-500 word response discussing what information you would need in order to perform this evaluation including psychological assessments, personal records, and third party testimony. In your response, please discuss some of the validity and reliability issues you may face in performing this evaluation. In addition, please use one of the ethical decision making models from Chapter 4 of your text to identify and solve any potential ethical issues that you feel may come up into play while performing this evaluation.  QUESTION # 3 ( ONE PARAGRAPH) What types of questions would you ask corrections applicants during the interview phase to determine if they possessed racist or bigoted ideologies? Please be specific about the questions, the rationale, and also the outcomes. How or why would you choose such questions, and what academic support is available for the line of inquiry? QUESTION #4 ( ONE PARAGRAPH) Discussion topics support this unit’s objective and should be completed after reading all materials. Your responses ought to include original evaluation, synthesis, or analysis of the topic and contribute to the weekly discussion in a meaningful way. You must complete all discussion topics and reply to your peers' posts. Refer to the Discussion Board Rubric under Course Resources for additional requirements. Operation Boo Watch a video on Operation Boo. Some would argue that the parolee’s First Amendment rights of freedom of expression (ability to give out candy) and freedom of association (ability to associate with children, especially when their criminal offense had nothing to do with children) are being violated. Justify Operation Boo using (1) the deontological system and (2) the utilitarian theory of ethics. Begin by explaining the central theme of each of these systems. QUESTION # 5 ( ONE PARAGRAPH) You are a K-9 handler at the local airport and as you are walking down a quiet walkway between the parking ramp and the terminal, your bomb dog alerts you to a man with a backpack walking in front of you. From about 10 feet behind him, you ask the man to stop and he turns and tells you not to come any closer because he has a bomb in his backpack. You see that he has his hand on what appears to be a “dead-man switch” (if he releases pressure, the bomb will explode). While you and the suspect remain stopped about 10 feet apart, you radio in the situation and are told that a Crisis Negotiation Team will be there in 25 minutes and you need to try to de-escalate the situation in the meantime and not allow the man to move into the main terminal. During that time, TSA and local law enforcement will block off your hallway and begin quietly evacuating the airport, but they estimate that that may take up to an hour. You are also advised that terrorists are generally willing to die for their cause and to focus on topics other than “what he has to live for.” For this discussion, you can make this man any type of terrorist (religion, nationalism, ecology, etc.). Outline your strategy to keep him engaged with you and how you will attempt to achieve your goals of de-escalating the situation and possibly even getting him to disarm the bomb. If, at some point in the next 25 minutes, the terrorist decides to continue walking towards the terminal, what will you do?

Answer to Question#2: Research Assignment
In the purpose of evaluating Officer Daniels’ unusual behavior, I have taken up the model of Problem definition. According to the model, I collected all possible information. I called him up and took his interview, which lasted for four hours. During the interview session he reminded me of one of his family issues, through which he had gone five years ago (Soldz, Olson & Arrigo, 2017).
After two years’ work as a decorated patrol officer, he confronted that issue in his family and instantly conveyed that to me. All the possible ways were discussed to solve the problem. After a constant struggle, he could get rid of this. However, that family issue relating to his daughter again emerged. The incident stated...
