This has been a long debate about the fact that whether the police officers are to be portrayed as warriors or as guardians. The fact is that the police officers are
both guardians and warriors and much beyond that who maintain law and order and provide support to the people in the society. It's because we expect police officers to be there to protect us from the danger, and that's pretty much what everybody's image of guardians are supposed to be.
The pros and cons are quite simple and can be noticed by the fact that police officers viewing them as guardians tend to work with the public to reduce crime and not as warriors who has a tendency to fight crime and the criminals. The guardian mind set is a positive one as compared to a warrior mind set in today’s context. (Kyle Mclean,2019).

In the present day context, police psychology has been an integral part of the police department and the agencies. They support in the personnel assessment and the operational assistance to the manpower they are involved with. The role of the psychologist is unique within a law enforcement agency. They are the support systems for the police officers at work though there are concerns and ethical dilemmas about the confidentiality, multiple relationships and also the skill to manage conflict between ethics and departmental demands and the professional competence of the police psychologists. On duty the police officers are expected to follow the law enforcement ethics and code of conduct. During the practice of the police psychology ethical dilemmas arise which are taken care off with the help of the ethical codes of conduct and the guidelines which are relevant in the area of police psychology.
