Ans. The following outline can be used to organize an effective recycling program:
1.
Survey on the Existing Recycling Programs and problems associated with them.
2. Identify College, Local and State Laws, Executive Orders and Policies on Waste
Prevention and Recycling.
3. Find materials which can be recycled and their adequate quantities.
4. Conduct Economic Analysis: This is very important because it should be cost-effective
and yield profit. We need to determine the cost of recycling program. It includes cost of
collection of waste, machinery and equipments required for recycling. Collection
methods can be of various types like drop-off center, Building pick ups, in house Pick
ups or Outside contractor. Appropriate collection method should be selected.
5. Purchase Recycled materials- This will increase demand which will eventuallt lead to
reduction in costs.
6. Designate a Recycling Co-coordinator
Thus if these steps are carried out successfully, then it will lead to a successful recycling
program.
