Virtual teams are groupings of geographically and/or organizationally dispersed members that work together to achieve a common objective by using information and com
munication technology (ICT). Virtual teams are teams comprised of people who never meet physically or scenarios in which team members seldom meet face-to-face and hence rely on ICT as the major medium of connection (Alsharo, Gregg & Ramirez, 2017). The continual difficulty of managing the cooperation must be placed at the very core of virtual teaming. The administration of virtual partnership is therefore viewed as articulation that includes all tasks involved in assembling, scheduling, monitoring and coordination amongst geographically scattered participants of independent yet interdependent activities.
The three conceptual structures of virtual teams are the following:
1. The lifeworld: It is an inter-subjective reality based on the interpretations of all individual work experiences as well as the collective experiences of an organization's members. People's attitudes, behaviours, and actions in interactions are guided by their lived experiences and beliefs. It is made up of assumptions, knowledge, culture, ideas, and values that are taken for granted. The lifeworld is a frame of reference that gives people implicit principles for organising, structuring, and enacting meaning in events and circumstances. It acts as a curtain through which individuals perceive and interpret the behaviours of others, filtering the collective reality. Only when there are failures in comprehension or when seemingly conflicting organisational acts are thoroughly examined can fractures in lifeworld plans appear.
2. The organizational structure: Policies, standards, symbolic objects, ritual activities, and structured behaviour are examples of explicit, articulated, and visible systems. Individuals' power and standing within the organisation are defined by them. Travel and email policies are two examples of organisational structures connected to virtual teams. The formation of a virtual team made up of members from various sub-groups inside the larger company can be seen as the emergence of a new organisational setting in which a common meaning framework, new organisational structures, and work practises must be negotiated and implemented (Soderstrom & Weber, 2020).
3. The work practice: Professional conventions, collaborative processes, and languages...
