Purpose: the ability to think and communicate about a single topic from a variety of viewpoints is a desirable skill to possess; people who can do this are valuable employees, better business owners, effective public servants, and more responsible citizens.

Task: put together a multi-genre project consisting of an introductory author’s statement and three different genre compositions built around a single topic.

Requirements:

1. Provide a 500-700 word author’s statement (typed, double spaced) to introduce your multi-genre project. This document should include an overview of your topic, an explanation for why you chose the genres that you did, and the research sources used (listed in a works cited). See the attachments for examples of author's statements.


2. Communicate your most important ideas about your topic through three distinct genre compositions.


3. Your project must involve a minimum ofthreeresearch sources. At least one of these sources should be from the library. *Cite these sources according to MLA guidelines (in-text citations, Works Cited list, etc.).


4. A peer review will be held for this project similar to the reviews for the other compositions. Although you may package your project in a variety of ways, you should submit digital versions of each composition (for example, text documents, photographs, slides, audio files, links to web content, etc.) to both the peer review and to this Brightspace assignment.

Helpful Hint:

Be creative in your use of other genres. Look at this project as an opportunity to break away from the traditional single-genre composition and explore a topic from a variety of perspectives.
