Purpose of Assignment:

The purpose of this assignment is to demonstrate your knowledge of the Project Management using examples of projects in business world. This is a group assignment and every effort should be made to ensure that all students engage in this exercise.

This assignment will enable students to identify the challenges of Project Management in the global business environment, and to develop the following skills: teamwork due to the group nature of the task, written communication, and research skills from gathering information from multiple sources about their assigned topic.


Specification of Assignment:

This assignment requires the submission of a maximum 3,000 words report which shows an understanding of the different aspects of Project Management and how companies have applied the theory in practice. This assignment takes the form of a report.
Groups are assigned with a specific sector (see tables 2B and 2C). All the sectors are carefully chosen because they present important practical issues. Groups must clearly show examples from industry. The group project requires the students to apply the theories and concepts learnt in class to show successful examples or solve actual project management problems. Students must apply one of the aspects of project management such as project plan, risk management, resources allocation and reducing project duration. Any justification or any recommendations made must be clearly shown in the report.
Each group must submit a report that is entirely based on its own team’s work. Students should ensure that they are familiar with the university polices on plagiarism. Students should familiarise themselves with the University’s policy on the late submission of module work. Students should also complete the Team Agreement Form which can be found in the appendices at the end of this study guide.
