Introduction
Advancement in education and technology has forced researchers and psychologists to explore the hidden facts regarding human behavior and the changes in the human psychology with time. In this assignment we shall explore a research article and a news article on the topic of cognitive psychology. Initially we shall discuss the summary and the descriptive note of the research article and the news article. This is followed by brief comparison between the two.
Cognitive Psychology in News and Research
The paper on normal cognitive aging process describes the decline of the cognitive abilities among the older adults. Research on the field depicts that the memory language visual and executive functional abilities in an individual diminishes as the age of the person increases. This research identifies decline in the volume of grey matter and white matter in the human brain which results in a decline in cognitive efficacy of the person. Researchers went on to an extension to reveal that such decline in the cognitive functions will not cause any impairment in daily activities but activities like driving or those activities that engage in an effective cognitive ability will be disrupted (Harada, Love & Triebel, 2018).
