PSYC 345 Research Paper Instructions This assignment consists of three parts. In module/week 3 you will submit a properly formatted title and reference page (using current APA guidelines). In module/week 4 you will submit an Annotated Bibliograpy. In module/week 6 you will submit a Research Paper on one disorder or disability described in our current textbook. Please review the detailed instructions below and contact your instructor if you have any questions. Completion of these assignments will improve research and communication skills while increasing your knowledge of a disorder/ disability of special interest. Module/Week 3: Title page and references 1. Select your topic: Select a disorder/disability from chapters 1-12 in Parritz and Troy (2018) which interests you or with which you feel called to work. 2. Conduct your research: Using resources at the Jerry Falwell Online Library select at least 10 peer-reviewed/scholarly journal articles published within the past 10 years. Choose resources that address the following topics related to your chosen disability/disorder: etiology, prevalence, characteristics, prognosis, and interventions. 3. Create a title page. Please follow current APA guidelines (Student Standards) for formatting your title page. If you have any questions about the proper use of APA formatting please contact the Writing Center. 4. Create a reference page. Reference page must includes textbook, Bible and a minimum of 10 peer-reviewed scholarly articles, published within the past 10 years.Please follow current APA guidelines (Student Standards) for formatting your reference page. Submit this assignment by 11:59 p.m. (ET) on Monday of Module/Week 3. Module/Week 4: Annotated Bibliography The Annotated Bibliography is designed to assist you with your Research Paper references, to teach you how to search for scholarly journal articles, and to give you practice using proper in-text citations. For this assignment, you will be annotating 5 scholarly (peer-reviewed) journal articles. 1. Choose 5 scholarly peer-reviewed journal articles which contain research specific to the disability you have selected for your Research Paper. You may annotate articles used in your Module/Week 3 assignment however, each article for this assignment must have been published within the last 5 years. 2. Check your understanding of the APA format for annotations in the Liberty Online Library under annotated bibliography. 3. Cite the first article in APA style. 4. Write a concise annotation that summarizes the central theme and scope of the article. 5. Explain why this article might be selected by a researcher for a cumulative final research paper. (Do not use first person.) 6. Repeat for 4 additional articles. Your Annotated Bibliography must have at least 150 words per summary for each of the 5 articles you selected. You will list your first reference, then a review of the article, then the next reference, then a review of that article, etc. This assignment does not need to include a title page, or reference page. However, each reference must be listed in current APA format before the 150-word review. Review the APA guide for annotated bibliography formatting and examples. This assignment is due by 11:59 p.m. (ET) on Monday of Module/Week 4. Module/Week 6: Research Paper Write a research paper on the disorder/disability identified in module/week 3 to address the following categories. Each section should have an APA formatted subheaders for each category. Please use the following outline: 1. Title Page 2. Overview of the Disability/Disorder (approximately 3 pages) Summarize your selected disorder/disability. Then, address the following topics (use subheaders for each): · Risk and protective factors · Etiology · Prevalence · Characteristics · Prognosis 3. Primary Concerns and Intervention Approaches (approximately 2 pages) Identify 3 primary concerns and research based interventions to address these concerns. (use subheaders for each): · Primary concerns · Interventions · Explain trends and future research mentioned in the research reviewed. · Summarization of all findings 4. Conclusion (1/2 -1 page) 5. Reference Page SPECIFICATIONS: Please be sure your paper includes: · A title page formatted according to current APA guidelines (please be sure to incorporate any suggestions/corrections identified in module/week 3). · At least 2000 words in the body of the paper (please use the outline provided above). Include frequent in-text citations to identify your sources and substantiate your statements. · Do not include direct quotes. Instead, paraphrase information from your sources (using in-text citations) in order to demonstrate your mastery of each concept. · Do not use first person. Write in a formal college-level essay style. · A reference page formatted according to current APA guidelines. · Note that your reference page must include at least 10 scholarly resources that are cited within the text of your paper.
