1. Identify a theorist, summarize their theory, and explain the aspects of that theory that relate to the biological perspective.
As per Dr. Levy, we all live and progress certain stereotypes which help to generalize things and makes it easier to navigate this world. However, it isn’t necessary all the stereotypes are good or perhaps right. There are certain aging self-stereotypes that starts as early as the childhood and are subsequently reinforced thought the adulthood (Harcum, S., 2019).
2. Provide an example of how this biological perspective of life-span development applies to your lived experience.
When I reflect back the journey of repositioning perceptions in the mind of my friends about my family, culture and aspirations it brings out all the challenges faced and subsequent happiness achieved. Essentially, this included making my friend understand the culture I come from, respecting parents, grand-parents and elders are quintessential. Furthermore, developing more interactive platforms to communicate with elders so that people of my age can learn from experience and wisdom which aren’t found in any books or television. Simultaneously, elders at the same time feel they are valued and still vibrant. It’s a good relationship to nourish and nurture!
