Provide substantive responses to the initial posts of two classmates
1) Some of the tools I find very helpful are: resume preparation, interview preparation, career research, networking, vmock and resonate. The main resource that will impact my journey is Community Connect. Community connect allows students to connect with other students, alumni and industry professionals for career guidance, networking, and mentorship. Within the Community connect, there is the Quick connect and the Extended Connect. The extended connect will be my choice as it allows you to connect with industry professionals who will offer guidance and mentorship, providing that one-on-one connection with someone who is more experienced in the field and will give me valuable insights. I believe mentorship is critical for success. Partnering with a professional who has walked the path, learned the ins and outs of the industry and one who can provide training will be an asset for my growth and development. In my current role, I try to learn as much from my Finance Manager and Controller so that I can expand my opportunities and gain more knowledge as I seek to improve and grow in the industry. Having other external mentors with other experiences outside of my current employer will provide a wider range of opportunities for me. I look forward to partnering with other like-minded professionals in my field and building that community for the greater good. Comment: 2) After reviewing the careerq website trying to narrow down which feature to choose for the assignment, I've decided to go with VMock and resunate. In reality all of the features are very valuable and I will likely use all of them. The resume and linkedin are the first things that a potential employer will look at when considering someone for employment, so it is very important that they convey the message that you want to send. I really like that Vmock connects directly to your linkedin page and gives you detailed feedback on how to optimize your page for the job you are looking to get. Resunate works in a similar manner, allowing me to enhance my resume by importing the job description for the position I want and suggesting edits to better match the description. Both of these resources will greatly help me to further my career because they will allow me to be seen in a more professional manner by potential employers and they will aid in showcasing my skills and experiences in a manner that better fits the potential employer.
