Select ONE project from the project outlines listed below, basing your decision on your familiarity with the content and on your ability to address all assessment criteria.

The projects are intentionally ‘vague’ in nature as you are expected to “flesh out” the details through the preparation of the ‘Statement of Work’ and Work Breakdown Structure, and a ‘risk management plan.’ The vagueness will give you the opportunity to develop the topic to suit your personal interest.

Project outlines: ( choose any ONE)
1.    The relocation of a Health Information Service  department to a new building or new site.

2. The development of a specific Health Promotion campaign for a specific target audience/group.
3- The development and/or conducting of a ‘Quality’ audit of clinical documentation or a specific clinical activity.

The task
The assignment consists of three parts. The project selected must be used for all three (3) parts of the assignment.

Ensure that your assignment is based on: Project Management Theory; and the basic framework of the selected project.

PART: A Statement of Work (800 words)

Prepare a formal Statement of Work (SOW) for your selected project. The SOW should be presented in the format of a formal business report. The SOW must include headings and appropriate content for the following items:

• Problem statement

•    Identify project stakeholders

•    The responsibility matrix

•    Project constraints

•    Project assumptions

•    Communication plan

•    Measurement of success

PART B Work Breakdown Structure and Task Relationship (1000 words)

Prepare a Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) for the project, based on your ‘Statement of Work’ on (i.e. Part A). The WBS can be produced using MS Project or a similar project management software or by means of any other spreadsheet or word-processing program (e.g. MS Excel or MS Word). In addition to the WBS, provide a description of its content including justification for your decisions where necessary (i.e., summary tasks, work packages, sequencing, dependencies, milestones e.t.c).

The Project Plan must include the following items (where appropriate):

•    Project activities/tasks, including:

•    Summary Tasks

•    Work Packages

•    A breakdown of the activity/task schedule, including the following:

•    Start / Finish Times

•    Sequencing

•    Dependencies

•    Milestones

•    Critical Activities

•    Resources for the project

•    • Identify the project objectives

•    • Define the complete scope of the project
