Project 2.pages MSE 603 - Computer Integrated Manufacturing Project 2 For this project, you will evaluate an assembly line and balance the line based on the methods that you learned. You are expected to do all the necessary calculations and show your work, in addition to the final results. 1. Keep in mind that this is an individual project - you are more than welcome to use the resources you have such as the book, your notes, lecture notes, or even the Internet, but communication between classmates is not allowed. 2. You have until 7 PM on October 25, 2017 to submit your work on Canvas. 3. Below you are given the work elements, time each work element takes, and the precedence list. For T1, divide the number of the letters in your first name by 5. For T2, divide the number of letters in your last name by 5. For T3, divide your current age by 10. For T4, divide the last two digits of your student ID number by 10. 4. You need to show your analysis with the largest candidate rule, the Kilbridge and Wester method, as well as the ranked positional weights (RPW) method. The number of stations should be as low as possible allowed by the precedence list. Make sure to present your work flow / precedence diagram as well as a work flow sequence diagram (examples for both can be found on page 45 of class notes from Week 7) for each of the solution. 5. Once you do all three methods of line balancing, assume that you have an extra station where work can be done in parallel with another existing station. For example, your station 1 work can be divided into the two parallel stations so that the average time for station 1 will be halved. Of course, you would want to use the extra station in the most efficient way, so you may need to use it for any of the stations in your system. Do the same analysis for this case. Work Element Tek (sec) Preceded by 1 2.3 - 2 T1 1 3 1.8 2 4 T2 2 5 T3 3 6 4.2 4 7 3.7 5 8 6.4 6, 7 9 T4 4 10 2.8 8, 9
