Project 2
For your project you will need to upload a single document with the following items in the following order. You will give the three items for each of the four scenarios. Please provide a header for each part of your document.
1) A lay summary - This will be specifically aimed at answering the question to a non-statistical audience. (6 points)
2) A statistical summary - In this summary you must report all analyses and statistical results using APA format. Also include any methodological or statistical concerns you may have with the experiment assigned. You are only provided the information from the question. So, you may need to raise concerns regarding the information you do have AND the information you do not have about the study with the latter also indicating why that is a concern. (12 points)
3) Copies of your analysis -Not the data just the analyses. You can copy and paste these into a word document. (7 points)
It may be necessary for you to reformat the data to run the analysis you need to. You will need to transfer this data into jamovi. Remember that in statistical software packages each row must be 1 participant.
The following are four scenarios. Conduct the appropriate data analysis and write up the results as described above for all 4 scenarios.
Scenario 1
A car magazine has highlighted the new Nord Z150 as their best truck this year. However, they would like to recommend the most fuel-efficient model based on engine type. They were able to gather random samples of trucks with different cylinder sizes. Each pickup truck was tested once for miles per gallon in highway driving. Which should be recommended?

Scenario 2
A campaign would like to know if there are any combinations of age (64 or younger vs 65 and older), gender, or ethnicity that results in higher donation amounts.

Scenario 3
Last season due to the pandemic, Major League Baseball did not allow fans to attend their shortened regular season games (up to 60 games). It is generally accepted that teams are more likely to win playing a game at their home stadium than on the road at another stadium (i.e., home field advantage). This could be due to the familiarity of their home field or it could be because home fans are cheering for them. Approximately the first 60 games from 2019 (with fans) are compared to the first 60 games of 2020 (with no fans). The winning percentage for home games and away games for each year are calculated. Do the data support that home field advantage affected by the presence of home fans?
Hint:Treat this as two repeated measures. Even though teams can have different player from year to year (contracts, trades, injuries, etc.) there was still a strong positive correlation between winning percentages between 2019 and 2020 (r = .55, p = .002). In jamovi, this is setup by creating two factors under repeated measures factors, one for year (2019 vs 2020) and the other for location (home vs road).

Scenario 4
A company would like to know which type of arrow key layout would be better for their laptop computers?
Modified T
Inverted T
Participants completed a maze task twice, once with an inverted T layout and again with a modified T layout. Participants also completed an MS Excel task twice, using the same two arrow key layouts. The arrow key type order was randomized and balanced to reduce order effects. For each task, the number of errors and the time it took to complete the task were recorded. Which arrow key layout do the data suggest is best?
