  • You have been asked to team up with a new employee who is starting employment in a few days. The new employee does not have a lot of experience.


    In 1,000 words explain the information that you might provide to this person to help them develop the knowledge and skills they will require to provide quality service to customers and to participate appropriately in the team.


    You will need to discuss, with the new employee the procedures to be followed when:



    • organising and preparing ready for a service period/ event/ function/ shift in the administration front of house sector of an accommodation establishment/ housekeeping shift etc

    • following organisational policies and procedures for maintaining appropriate hygiene and safety standards, developing product knowledge, providing information to customers, managing complaints and resolving problems

    • completing operational tasks, working as an effective team member, complying with legislation and delivering high quality service and following the end of shift administration and reporting procedures

· The employee need to enter the floor in a properly groomed manner with clean and tidy uniform as it is the basic rule of the hospitality industry.
· They need to avoid unnecessary talking to the other employees during the duty hours.
· Greeting the guest with smile is very necessary.
· Never use the guest washrooms
· They need to follow the protocols which state that they cannot take any unnecessary favors from the guest (Baharin and Hanafi, 2018).

· The employee needs to check on the stock of the materials that should be used by the guests in the event.

· The employees need to maintain correctly record maintenance as well as the register maintenance.
· The employee must pay close attention to the several guidelines given by the managers.
Procedures to be followed during Housekeeping Shift
· In the housekeeping shift the employee need to take care of the comfort of the guest.
· The employee need to maintain the necessary hygiene required so that the guests need mot to compromise.
· They need to present themselves is a very poised manner in front of the guests.
· During housekeeping they should never try to use the guest room phone (Whiting and Symon, 2020).
