Please include the events listed below. You are free to list additional events if you like. Development 1. Your first memory 2. The first time you remember feeling different or unique 3. The happiest time in your life Schooling 4. Your most memorable difficult, challenging or negative school experience 5. Your favorite teacher Understanding the Memories Now that you have made a timeline and listed the events, you are to write in detail about these events and the impact they have had in your life. For each of these events, write a paragraph or more that describes your memory. Follow the instruction for each event as listed below. This portion needs to be computer generated and double-spaced. Development 1. Your first memory. (Describe it. State in which Piagetian stage it belongs. Describe characteristics of this stage. Note how it may have affected your future.) 2. The first time you remember feeling different or unique (Describe why you felt you were different. State which of Vygotsky’s theories apply most. Describe the characteristics of this stage. Note whether/how this may have affected or contributed to your cognitive development at the time.) 3. The happiest time in your life (Describe it. State in which Eriksonian stage it belongs. Describe characteristics of this stage. Note how it may have affected your future.) Schooling 4. Your most memorable difficult, challenging or negative school experience (Describe it. State the Eriksonian stage in which this belongs and why you believe this. Describe characteristics of this stage. State how it made you feel at the time. State how this experience makes you feel now. What do you wish your parent/caregiver should have done about this? What do you wish your teacher should have done about this? Did (and how) this experience influence whom you have become today? 5. Your favorite teacher (Describe why he/she was so special to you. How did she/he make you feel? Could any of Vygotsky’s theories apply to this? State, describe and link these theories to the experience. Conclusion In this section, summarize how you think these memories are going to impact you as an educator. How might they affect how you will treat your future students? Details 1) The timeline and paper are both due at the beginning of class. 2) Margins should be one inch on all sides. The paper should be double spaced. 3) Number each page in the bottom footer with your name and page number. (Example: Makris/1) 4) The paper should be proof-read and written in proper, readable English. (If you need help, either come to me or go to the Writing Lab on campus.)
