Procedure for Baking Cookies
Cookies are small, crispy, cake like pastry which is made of flour, sugar and water with some chocolate chips. They are characterised by high sugar, high fat and low moisture content. The name of the cookie is derived from Dutch word ‘Koekje’ which means little cake. The earliest cookie goes back to the 7th Century AD in Persia. This was the place where sugar was first being cultivated. In parts of England and Britain colonies, cookies are also referred to as biscuits. There are various types of cookies which are either made by mixing batter like drop cookies, stiff batter cookies and short bread cookies and another form of cookies can be Meringue and Sponge cookies (Bakerpedia; 2021).
We will discuss about Drop cookies which are relatively made from soft dough which is dropped by spoon on the baking sheet. While it is being baked the mounds of dough is spread and is flattened.
