Besides, this industry has also shown enormous changes lately and expectedly. will bring about a very bright economic outlook. Nonetheless, several problems could occur in the future such as air pollution as well as water contamination due to the consequences of the growth of tourism. This report discusses concerns surrounding the effect of tourism on environmental pollution. Furthermore, it also suggests approaches which will help to resolve these matters. Introduction: Over the last sixty years, the tourism industry has madesignificant contributions to several improvements in the world. This is evidenced by the upward trend in thenumber of visitors annually. According to Glaesser et al.,(2017), about 25 million visitors were arriving worldwide in 1950. Sixty-five years later this figure rose to 1.2 billion foreign arrivals a year which is 48 times the original number. However, significant growth in the tourist sectors has raised several concerns, including adverse environmental impacts. The focus of this report is to address the effects of tourism on local environments and to propose some potential solutions to these problems. Furthermore, this report also advises somerecommendations that can potentially tackle this problem. Findings 2. Problems: 2.1. Air pollution: Air pollution is one of the key problems that can occur because of the expansion of the tourism industry. There is a report reveals that the existing (2010) tourism system would release 1,12 gigatons of carbon dioxide emissions into the atmosphere (Gössling and Peeters, 2015). Besides, According to Cruise Lines International Association (2018), the naval tourism market is projected to begin to grow in 2019, with 30 million passengers predicted to go on a cruise holiday, an 6% increase from 28.2 million in 2018. Despite its positive economic impacts, cruise ship tourism has a negative effect on air quality. This could be influenced by several factors, such as the amount of gasoline used, the size of the motor used, the level of motion (Ruiz-Guerra et al., 2019). Therefore, if the popularity of naval tourism continues to increase, air quality would be, consequentially, adversely affected. 2.2. Water contamination: Water contamination, another major problem, is expected to continue to challenge governing bodies around the world in the foreseeable future. Research has shown that given the effort to incorporate modern sustainable ways of tourism, the visitor also uses 92 per cent of the water supply. Moreover, According to Khan (2017), for Pattaya Beach to become a prominent tourism destination, hotels must be constructed to attract visitors. These facilities would lead to soil degradation, water contamination and a decrease in the soil water supply. Additionally, the appearance of modern architecture and ancient places operations will contribute to harmful effects on water supplies (Nedelcu & Dumitrescu, 2017). Hence, water contamination is an established problem that could be affected by tourism. 3. Solution 3.1. Government policies The issues emerging from tourism may be addressed if specific measures are implemented by the government. New guidelines should be established by the governments of the host countries and communities (Ruiz-Guerra et al., 2019).Cruise ships companies should be requiredto cooperate with the corresponding government to share some liabilities of this issue. As a result, these businesses would be compelled to change and adopt a more sustainable model. Other authors suggest that these effects may be obtained by policy legislation or by market-based approaches, such as the usage of the customer-recognized classification of sustainable ports equivalent (Creo & Fraboni, 2011). It is also assumed that policy initiative is a potential remedy. 3.2. Community engagement approaches Another possible solution is that priority should be given to awareness strategies about water resource. To resolve these concerns, a comprehensive strategic environmental management strategy and realistic approaches for tourism growth need to be initiated to build an optimal outlook for water resource and coastal areas (Khan, 2017).Moreover,different authors argued thathostcommunitiesneed therapeutic tourism awareness services (Gogonea et al., 2017). From here, strategic plans will be beneficialin term of reducing the negative effects of tourism. 4. Discussion The world is currently facing problems related to water contamination and air pollution caused by the tourism industry. The 2015 analysis by Gössling and Peeters shows that the new (2010) global tourism programme can involve 138 km3 of groundwater, around 62,000 km2 of soil and trigger 1,12 gigaton of carbon dioxide emissions. Although attempts to introduce new sustainable forms of tourism were in place, the study showed that over the period 2010-2050, the total consumption of tourism services increased by 189% soil use and 92% water. The problems which might arise with the environment such as air and water pollution will highly affect citizens around the world in the future if this obstacle cannot be solved. The above-mentioned issues in this report confirm that one problem which is the most likely to occur due to cruise tourism is air pollutants. The increasing number of tourists coming from the cruise ships will lead to the negative impactof the environment due to exhaust fumes (Carić & Mackelworth,2014). Furthermore, there are also a variety of issues connected to water contamination produced by the tourism industry. In 2017, Nedelcu and Dumitrescu reported that the influence of architecture or heritage places, as well as land usage, might have a significant effect on the quality of water. Besides, in order to eliminate these contrary effects of tourism on the environment, several policies should be organised by the government which would control the risk of pollution. As some scholars find out, the policies of the communities and the distribution areas of cruise ships would have to develop new requirements that achieve sustainability and requiring businesses to change their market strategy (Ruiz-Guerra et al., 2019). The problems related to tourism can only be solved if there are controlled and appropriate measures are taken. Instead of growing the number of visitors coming each year and making profits off this sector, the government, along with communities, should take steps to create a healthy world for all of us. 5. Conclusion Air and water resource are two major pollutions which can be caused by tourism. Therefore, solutions emphasise an important role in protecting the environment as socio-environmental problems surrounding tourism industry has been of great significance to life human on earth. To tackle these issues, the government should take initials in raising awareness of protecting the environment in the community. Likewise, tourism awareness services should be set to create an optimal outlook for water and air resource, in order to prevent more severe issues. 6. Recommendation Following the findings in this report, the following recommendations are made: •The government should build sustainability campaigns more regularly •Educating travellers on how to appreciate local destinations is significant •Multiple measures of safety should be provided to reduce emissions References Carić, H., & Mackelworth, P.
