General and Specific Problems The general problem is that the companies and employees were not adequately prepared for the rapid transition to remote work as a result of COVID-19 restriction, which led to unclear expectations for work parameters for teleworkers (Bagnoli et al., 2021). The specific problem is that expectations regarding work hours and breaks has not been well-defined for teleworkers, resulting in work-life imbalances leading to job dissatisfaction and burnout (Shockley et al., 2021). Literature Gap Researchers have identified that further research about the effects of more companies moving to a remote workforce is needed with respect to strategies to improve working conditions for teleworkers (Radulovic et al., 2021; Shockely et al., 2021). Research Design I am considering a phenomenological design to understand the lived experiences of teleworkers in the telecommunications industry in the Los Angeles County area.
