Prepare an essay (900-words minimum) which evaluates the primary source - Frederick Douglass, "Appeal to Congress for Impartial Suffrage" (Atlantic Monthly, Jan. 1867) - using the “P.A.P.E.R.” system. Purpose
    The purpose of the primary source, namely, ‘Appeal to Congress for Impartial Suffrage’ by Frederick Douglass, is to bring into focus the attention of the Congressmen in United States of America towards the impartial treatment given to Black Americans. The selected primary source also aims to gain equal rights for the Black Americans in the country in the form of getting approval of the Congressmen for Black Americans’ voting rights. As mentioned by Vanderheide, the assessment of the purpose of a primary source must have enough evidences to support its claims and any source being able to provide logical arguments be given higher priority.
In addition to the purpose of catering equal voting rights for the Black Americans, the primary piece of literature also aimed at reminding the Congressmen about the selfless dedication provided by the Black Americans during and after the Civil War in the country. The Purpose of the primary piece also extends to the make it evident that the partial rights provided to the Black Americans is a mode of racial discrimination and potential source of conflict, if not managed properly, namely by providing equal rights for all, considering the Black Americans, American Citizens.
Argument
    The primary source opted for discussion in the current section, namely, ‘Appeal to Congress for Impartial Suffrage’ brings forth the idea argument that questions the American political values. It is argued that if the Black Americans are not given the basic rights in America, such as voting right, what is the meaning of boasting about equality in the country, as equality is an aspect that gives every person same right.
