Mourin reports about the Salmonella infection as part of GIT pathology wherein Salmonella is basically a bacterium with gram –ve strain invading the ileum and colon epithelium layer. This leads to 2 forms of disease that affects primarily the GIT which is further divided as no typhoid and typhoid species. Salmonella typhi is the species causing typhoid fever whereas S. Paratyphi may cause clinical symptoms in resemblance. On the other hand, non typhoid specices are S. typhimurium, S. Enteritidis, S. muenchen, S.javania and many more. Around 102-103 organisms leads to human disease wherein the infective dose is quite low. However, the infection from Salmonella is global issue. Transmission is caused by the water and food that is contaminated. This disease is prevalent in developing countries. This infection leads to food poisoning and traveler’s diarrhea in developed countries. Salmonella may be present in fish, egg, dry cereal, egg products, fresh juice, sprouts, fruits, ice cream or vegetables.
