1) Marketing orientations are employed by the Avon for the purpose of selling and marketing its beauty products in the market place. Avon operates in var
ious markets of the world like US, China, Russia, and Brazil and thus employs different marketing orientations in accordance with nature and behavior of market. The company has employed four marketing orientations i.e., product orientation, selling orientation, marketing orientation and societal marketing orientation. There appears to be perfect applicability of each of such marketing orientations like societal marketing orientation is employed by the Avon in US to participate and disseminate information regarding breast cancer as a part of its social responsibility. Like, product orientation is used by company to develop superior quality beauty products and boost its sale in various markets. At some instances, Avon has also used marketing orientation to gain an edge in the marketplace.
2) The Avon is more dependent on its foreign operations specifically located in BRIC countries as markets of these countries proves cost-effective for company. US is the home country of Avon which is one of the world’s most expensive and developed country. The low cost selling and marketing operations run by the Avon in BRIC countries and other countries cannot be implemented in US market as customers of US expects high cost and expensive marketing efforts. Due to it, Avon is more dependent on its foreign operations in order to control its costs and increase revenue and profits margins (Glaser, 2004).
