"Power is control over what other people do; choice is control over your own outcomes."
- from "It's All About Control"
For this assignment, compose two paragraphs of about 250 words each.
First paragraph
Briefly explain a situation that you witnessed or saw (on TV, in the news, etc.) where someone exerted power that made others respond as commanded. It could be the neighbor next door, a parent, a boss, a leader (local, state, federal, despot). Address what he/she said or expected and how the person, or people, responded as demanded.
Second paragraph
Briefly explain how someone defied the orders or expectations of another (could be an authority or someone of power), and, as a result of this choice to follow one's own "instincts" (as it were), the outcome is most favorable for the individual. In other words, the person was told (or, if it's a group, persons were told) to do one thing but did another and everything turned out even better - for the person (or persons).
Avoid the personal here. Don't write about yourself, your own experience; write about what you've observed.
