1. What is the importance of creating a command center? which function of a command center do you consider most critical? Why? What do you predict would be
the biggest obstacle to creating a command center? why?
A command center is basically a centralised way of ensuring that the orders and/or critical processes are being carried out as also their supervisory activities for better
monitoring. The purpose of any command centre depends upon the end objectives of that particular organization and/or entity. There may or may not be a dedicated room/office
for a command centre but the one with clear formal structure is the one which is most critical as this will get recognition as also recall from amongst the users. Typically any
command centre is characterized to carry out the following activities:
 Effective Communication and information flows
 Coordination, Command & Control on a need-to basis.
 Documentation capturing the as-is & to-be processes for gap analysis.

In my opinion the communication & information flows are the most critical aspects of the command center. Today the business world is characterized by the common business
model element of business of information exchange. The relevance of data is so past tense now. It is more about the information mining and controlling the critical aspects so
that not only we do the things rightly but most importantly doing the right things in first place. Command center is a way of controlling and monitoring and is an essesntial part of
project management.
In my opinion, the biggest obstacle in creating a command centre is organization culture (Chase, 1997) and the inherent legacy towards change management. Once the focus
comes to monitoring and quantified elements of project control, resistance is easy to understand. It will depend on the change management-ability of the organization to move
