Description:
Criminology researches are of two types:
1) Quantitative
2) Qualitative
Both the research are used to arrive on some conclusions and provide the research team with some valuable inputs. While quantitative data is the usage of the mathematical and statistical formulas to get the desired results while qualitative data focuses on the social factors, human behaviours, interactions with the victim and the accused while studying criminology.
But, Crowther (2007, p.72) suggests on quantitative data and states that quantification in crime is inevitably, about counting the number of criminal cases. Hence, quantitative data is the real facts and rarely be questioned. On the other hand, qualitative data focuses on rich quality data in a more scientific way that provides us with a better understanding of the social culture and the crime that are taking place in the society at large.
