Religion in Nigeria
    Nigeria is a large county and is well populated. One of
the most important ethos issue that are central to Nigeria is religion. 49.3% of the population in Nigeria is Christians and 48.8% of the population in Nigeria consists of Muslims. Less than 1% of the population of Nigeria follows other religions which include the indigenous religions and traditional ethnicities. This mixed legacy in Nigeria has been a great concern for the government as they strive to popularize the local cultures and traditions in Nigeria (Egodi Uchendu.¸ 2012).
    Nigeria has about 270 ethnic groups who speak over 370 languages. The domination of Islam and Christianity in Nigeria indicates that a majority of the population follow 2 religions. Only about 5-10% of the population follow indigenous religions singly. While the North is largely Muslim and the South is largely Christian, the religious demographics have great political implications (Miller, Tracy, ed, 2019).
