Please submit your single PDF file by 11:59pm on Friday the 4th of September. The truss structure is loaded as shown in Figure 1. The members are made of 304 stainless steel which has a yield stress of 510 MPa. The cross-section of each member is the same and can be seen below: Figure 1 – Truss Structure and Cross Section of Members Based on the information above, answer the following questions: 1. Solve the force in each member of the truss using method of joints. For each member, state if it is in tension or compression. Using the rules provided in the lecture, identify any zero forces members (state what rule you use). and identify the worst case tension and compression members. (3 marks) 2. For the worst case tension and compression members identified in the previous question, calculate the corresponding stress and determine if it will satisfy a safety factor of 2.1 (1.5 marks) 3.
