Social stratification is a term that refers to the categorization that takes place in a society, of its people on social and economic factors such as class, caste, income, rate, education, gender, property, profession and many other factors as such. There are basically 3 dimensions of social stratification as defined by Max Weber. These are social standing, social prestige and power.
