Assignment 1: Statement of the Problem (15 points) The topic for the Applied Dissertation generally comes from the student’s workplace or area of interest. For this assignment, provide a brief (2-3 pages) description of background relating to a particular research problem (or need). An actual problem should be indicated with accompanying evidence. The paper should be organized based on the headings below. To develop the Statement of the Problem (as illustrated in Creswell, p. 58) should include the following APA headings (Level 2): Introduction This is a brief description of the proposed area of study. Include at least three sentences. The Research Problem This is an area of conflict, concern, or controversy (a gap between what is wanted and what is observed). Include the most relevant reference that supports the claim. Background and Justification The evidence from the literature and experience showing the problem exists and the relevance. Include at least two references. Deficiencies in the Evidence Include a brief discussion that details the area of need in relation to the problem and the deficiency or lack of evidence in the literature. Introduction
Here the proposed area of study is sex or gender discrimination in employment. We have all heard about sexual discrimination in workplace as well as pay gap between the genders. But there is one other thing that makes women suffer and that is sex discrimination against women in employment. Most private companies prefer men over women for the specified roles and the general idea behind this discrimination is that men are believed to be the providers in a family. Also, private companies in order to avoid maternity leaves do not generally hire woman in their agencies. This is how sex discrimination against women in employment is carried out.

    Once upon a time there were gender roles assigned to male and female both. It did hurt a lot of people while many of them still finds it organised and systematic and hence better.
