ollective emotional and psychological injuries brought on by traumatic experiences in the past or institutionalised oppression are referred to as historical trauma. Genocide, enslavement, forced migration, colonisation, and other acts of violence against a specific cultural or ethnic group are examples of these occurrences. Historical trauma affects the mental, emotional, and physical health of succeeding generations and is not limited to the people who were there at the time. It is instead passed down through generations (Gameon & Skewes, 2021). Historical trauma, in my opinion, is an indication of the ongoing effects of previous injustices on the present, emphasising the significance of identifying and correcting structural injustices in order to support healing and resilience within impacted communities.
