Project 3: Case Study: BeamDog Company (https://www.beamdog.com/) A.Introduction Project 3 is a continuation of your findings from the environmental scan for for BeamDog Company (https://www.beamdog.com/) you performed in Project 2 (Please Read The Attachment Project 2 Environmental Scan [Order No : 41564]). Here, you will perform a strategic analysis of the strategic issue you identified in Project 2. For this assignment, you will provide a convincing, educated and supported solution to the strategic issue identified. You will write a business case study report that provides three or four strategic alternatives, and recommends a solution to the problem identified, integrating the information acquired from the environmental scan. You will also present your case study report and recommendations to your mentor and workplace supervisor(s). Project 3 will allow you to continue identifying the program outcomes you have achieved. B.Key Sections This section describes the information required in the key sections of Project 3. Strategic Alternatives and Evaluation Based on the strategic issue you identified in Project 2, identify three or four strategic alternatives that the company could possibly pursue. Incorporate the environmental scan performed in Project 2 to populate the pros and cons for each strategic alternative, clearly identifying where in the scan each item came from, and, the associated impact and implications of this scan item. Each strategic alternative should have three or four pros and cons. The use of a table to demonstrate your alternatives, their pros and cons, and their implications is helpful here. Recommendations Your recommendation should be strong, logical and convincing. Choose one or any combination of the above strategic alternatives as your recommendation. Provide strong supporting evidence based on your previous analysis as to why this is your recommendation. Use a decision matrix to rank each alternative and to support your recommendation. (See Section F for the relevant link). Very important to include in this section are: · Mitigation of Cons: How can your company deal with the downsides of this recommended alternative? · Financial and Resource Feasibility: Demonstrate how your company can “pay” for the alternative you recommend both financially and with respect to time and resource constraints. Implementation Plan Illustrate your implementation plan using a Gantt chart, which identifies: · What needs to be done · When · By whom · At how much cost The more detailed your implementation plan, the more clarity you can provide the company on how to actually implement your recommendation. Value Creation and Future Considerations This is your chance to underscore the value of your project and its recommendations, and to identify any outstanding issues. · Value Creation: Since most management reports are written to convince, this is your time to sell. Explain the value that will be created once your recommendations have been fully implemented. What does utopia look like? What are the benefits? Here’s your chance to demonstrate how implementing your recommendation will add value to the company. · Future Considerations: What are some possible factors to consider once your recommendation is actually implemented? Consider issues such as potential changes to organizational structure, leadership changes, change management resources and requirements, training requirements, potential future funding requirements, etc. Identify what these future considerations might be, and how your company can at least begin to address them. C.Case Study Report Format Executive Summary The purpose of the executive summary is essentially to provide a decision-maker (i.e., your boss or company) with a one-page version of your report. If this were the only thing the decision-maker had time to read, s/he would be in a position to act from the executive summary alone. Therefore, actual key findings – your actual strategic alternatives, actual recommendation and key components of the implementation plan – are the minimum required here. Introduction Clearly define the purpose (why are you writing this report and to whom?), and clearly define the scope (actual major headings of report). Include a brief description of the company name, its business and the industry it operates within. Be sure to identify the strategic issue. Background In Project 2, and the introduction here, you have identified the strategic issue. In this section, clearly identify: · Details of how this issue came to be. · What (if anything) has been done about it in the past or is being done now. · The implications resulting from this issue (consider use of company interviews here). · What will happen if nothing is done about this issue. Strategic Alternatives, Recommendation and Implementation Plan The alternatives, recommendation and implementation plan is as discussed in Section B above. Note: Each element (and sub-element) here should, of course, have its own headings and sections. Value Creation and Future Considerations The value creation and future considerations are as discussed in Section B. Conclusion Close strong with a brief statement to sum up your report. Be sure not to introduce any additional information in the conclusion. Circle back to the purpose of the report stated in the introduction and ensure that your report is successful in meeting its purpose. D.Format, Length and Submission Requirements · Format: Case studies should be written in third person, using a professional business vocabulary and tone. Use the case study report format discussed in Section C. · Length: 2,000 words maximum, excluding any appendices and exhibits. Use 1.5 line spacing, 0.75-inch margins, and 12 pt. Arial or Times New Roman. · References: Cite all sources in APA style and provide a properly formatted reference list (APA style, 6th edition). · Turnitin.com: Project 3 should be submitted to turnitin.com before the assignment due date. · Use of Tables and Charts: Include tables and charts as you see fit. These are often helpful to create a visual of the strategic alternatives, the decision matrix for the recommendation, and the implementation plan (e.g., Gantt chart). E.Key Success Factors The key success factors for a strong report are: · Integration: The environmental scan you performed in Project 2 is clearly drawn from when discussing the strategic alternatives, recommendation and implementation plan. · Brevity: Avoid unnecessary wordiness. Start with a “skeleton” of your main ideas and sections and flesh them out from there. Make your discussion count. · Professionalism: Strong report writing has clarity, flow and professional appeal (i.e., cover page, table of contents, proper headings, white space, appropriate use of appendices, proper citation). · Convincingness and Reasonability: Is your recommendation convincing (i.e., well researched and supported)? And is your implementation plan actually doable, given the potential resource, time and money constraints that your company faces? · Evidence of Research: How clear is it that you sought assistance from relevant leaders and co-workers within your organization?
