QUESTION #1 ( PLEASE ANSWER THE 5 HIGHLIGHTED QUESTIONS NOW WORD REQUIREMENT) Looking out upon the open ocean, it may seem like just an enormous pool of salty water, but the ocean is full of life and constantly undergoing processes that are essential to the entire planet. Ocean currents drive weather patterns across the globe, and humans rely on marine ecosystems for food and other sustenance. At least half of the oxygen on earth is produced from photosynthesis in the oceans, primarily in tiny phytoplankton. The oceans are so immense that scientists are unsure of how many species live there, and as much as 95% of the ocean remains unexplored. One thing that oceanographers agree on is that marine species are declining, and threats to sea life include harvesting by humans, climate change, and pollution. When you think of endangered species, it is common to think of colorful animals that are found in zoos, but ocean plants and animals are also facing extinction around the world. In this unit you will research an endangered ocean species and explore some of the threats to this species and the world’s oceans. You can begin your research with these references, as well as utilize any credible sources that you find on your own: · National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, Fisheries. (n.d.). ESA threatened and endangered. Species directory. https://www.fisheries.noaa.gov/species-directory/threatened-endangered · National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, National Ocean Service. Ocean. https://ocean.si.edu/conservation/solutions-success-stories/endangered-ocean During the unit, Answer the following questions: 1. Choose a marine (ocean-dwelling) endangered species to research (try not to pick one already discussed by your classmates). What species did you choose and what is its habitat? 2. What are the threats to the species you chose? Why is it endangered? 3. Identify human activities that contribute to the decline in your species. a. What do you think it will take to reduce this impact and help the species recover? 4. The majority of the ocean is not in the jurisdiction of any one particular country. a. How does this make conservation of marine species more complicated? b. In what ways can countries work together to solve the issues that are degrading the oceans and sea life? 5. Some overall threats to ocean health are impacting all marine life, and in turn can have consequences for all life on earth. Choose one of the following threats to ocean health and write a brief summary (2-3 sentences) of the issue and its causes. Include a credible reference in APA formatting for the information you provide. a. Ocean pollution b. The Great Pacific Garbage Patch c. Ocean acidification d. Ocean temperature rise e. Coral bleaching QUESTION #2 ( PLEASE ANSWER BOTH QUESTIONS 1& 2 NO WORD REQUIREMENT) 1. What is meant by positive discipline? Would you implement that type of discipline if you were a supervisor? 2. In your reading of Chapter 5 and from the article “How Police Supervisory Styles Influence Patrol Officer Behavior” (in Web Resources) you learned about four supervisory styles: 1. Traditional 2. Innovative 3. Supportive 4. Active Which of these four supervisory styles do you think are the most effective? Explain your answer. QUESTION # 3 ( NO WORD REQUIREMENT) Topic: Public Policy Analysis: Understanding the Concern “We stand now where two roads diverge. But unlike the roads in Robert Frost’s familiar poem, they are not equally fair. The road we have long been traveling is deceptively easy. A smooth superhighway on which we progress with great speed, but at is end lies disaster. The other fork of the road - the one “less traveled by” - offers out last, our only chance to reach a destination that assures the preservation of the earth ” --Rachel Carson Policy analysis is the study of public policy concern and the development of possible solutions to the public policy concern. Public policy analysis borrows from rational decision making. According to Michael Kraft, in rational decision making, “one defines a problem, indicates the goals and objectives to be sought, considers a range of alternative solutions, evaluate each of the alternatives to clarify their consequences, and then recommends or chooses the alternative with the greatest potential for solving the problem” (Kraft, 2018).  · According to Kraft, Public policy analysis contains five steps: Select a specific example of public policy (An example of education policy is the implementation of national education standards.) Step 1: Define and analyze the problem. Who, what, when, where, and why is there a public policy concern? (1 SENTENCE) Step 2: Construct policy alternatives. What are the possible, public policy options? (1 SENTENCE) Step 3: Choose evaluative criteria. How do we evaluate the possible, public policy options? (ONE SENTENCE) Step 4: Assess the alternatives. Which alternatives are better? (ONE SENTENCE) Step 5: Draw conclusions. Which public policy option will you choose (ONE SENTENCE) · Using the rational decision-making model: · What is the chosen, public policy concerning issue? · Where is the chosen, public policy concerning issue? · Why is the chosen, public policy concerning issue? · How did the chosen, public policy concerning issue begin? · Did previous, public policies cause this concerning issue? · How can one better “frame” the concerning issue in terms of voter engagement? · How does your chosen, public policy concern benefit from public policy analysis?

QUESTION #1 (PLEASE ANSWER THE 5 HIGHLIGHTED QUESTIONS NOW WORD REQUIREMENT)
Looking out upon the open ocean, it may seem like just an enormous pool of salty water, but the ocean is full of life and constantly undergoing processes that are essential to the entire planet. Ocean currents drive weather patterns across the globe and humans rely on marine ecosystems for food and other sustenance. At le
ast half of the oxygen on earth is produced from photosynthesis in the oceans, primarily in tiny phytoplankton. The oceans are so immense that scientists are unsure of how many species live there and as much as 95% of the ocean remains unexplored. One thing that oceanographers agree on is that marine species are declining and threats to sea life include harvesting by humans, climate change and pollution.
When you think of endangered species, it is common to think of colorful animals that are found in zoos, but ocean plants and animals are also facing extinction around the world. In this unit you will research an endangered ocean species and explore some of the threats to this species and the world’s oceans.
You can begin your research with these references, as well as utilize any credible sources that you find on your own:
· National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, Fisheries. (n.d.). ESA threatened and endangered. Species directory. https://www.fisheries.noaa.gov/species-directory/threatened-endangered
· National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, National Ocean Service. (n.d.). Ocean facts. https://oceanservice.noaa.gov/facts/
· National Park Service. (n.d.). Ocean habitats. Oceans, coasts and seashores. https://www.nps.gov/subjects/oceans/ocean-habitats.htm
· Smithsonian. (n.d.). Endangered ocean [Video]. Ocean. https://ocean.si.edu/conservation/solutions-success-stories/endangered-ocean
During the unit, Answer the following questions:
1. Choose a marine (ocean-dwelling) endangered species to research (try not to pick one already discussed by your classmates). What species did you choose and what is its habitat?
I have chosen Blue Whale as the endangered species for this discussion. I have chosen it because it is enlisted fewer than one of the aquatic species, which are now on the verge of extinction. They are also counted as the largest animals on planet earth. There is a "resident" population in the northern Indian Ocean. Sightings, stranding and acoustic detections of blue whales have been documented in the Gulf of Aden, Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal. The migratory patterns of these whales are unknown, but they may be influenced by oceanographic changes brought on by monsoons (Calderan et al., 2020).
2. What are the threats to the species you chose? Why is it endangered?
Blue whales have undergone severe threats of human invasions. They have been reported to be hunted because they provide rich cod liver oil as well as precious skin, which is useful in making expensive things of leather (Moller et al., 2020). Blue whales can be injured or killed as an outcome of vessel collisions. Blue whales have been killed by vessel impacts all over their range, although the risk is substantially higher in coastal locations with extensive vessel traffic, such as ports and trade lanes, particularly from larger vessels and vessels travelling at fast speeds.
3. Identify human activities that contribute to the decline in your species.
a. What do you think it will take to reduce this impact and help the species recover?
Under the marine preservation act, the blue whales are now protected by law to be hunted in seas. It implies that human beings (especially the hunters) are now given no permission, whatsoever it may be, to serve any harm to them. They can be further protected by raising awareness in people as well as by their conversation through biological resources.
4. The majority of the ocean is not in the jurisdiction of any one particular country.
a. How does this make conservation of marine species more complicated?
b. In what ways can...
