Media reports those crimes, which are unexpected and random in nature. Through their presentation, they try to create a moral panic and outrage among people. In many cases, they exaggerate the facts to develop interest in the crime leads to amplification of social reaction. They forget to follow the principles of ethical journalism and ignore to cover the both sides of the case (Jahiu & Cinnamon, 2021).
They report in the manner that without any prosecution they declare who is the offender and what punishment should be given to them. The reports are trusted by many inferring what is presented to them is right. Selective reporting is the root cause of many social crimes in every country.
