Writing a Position Paper PURPOSE: to present an arguable opinion about a topic. GOAL: to convince the audience that your opinion is valid and worth listening to. In a position paper assignment, you choose a side on a particular topic and through the research build up a case for your opinion or position. TOPIC: Your choice, must be criminal justice related. ORGANIZATION 1. An introduction · Introduce the topic & provide background information to explain why the topic is important · State your opinion or position on the topic (1 sentence) 2. The body · Argument #1 supporting your position · Argument #2 · Argument #3, 4, 5, 6, 7… 3. A conclusion · Restate your opinion or position · Show how the arguments supported your opinion The introduction should clearly identify the issue and state the author’s position. It should be written in a way that catches the reader’s attention. The body of the position paper may contain several paragraphs. Victims' right to compensation under the criminal ju
stice system is one such right that many are not aware of or even if they are aware of it they don't know how to use their right to compensation under the criminal justice system. Compensation is now being provided in various forms to the victims of crimes. One of the most common compensation mechanisms is the provision of cash compensation for medical expenses. Most of the cash payments are based on the number of health expenses. This right is there in our criminal justice system since victims of crime are often the most vulnerable.
