EDFD604 Investigation of Behavioural Management An effective school is one that addresses and manages the wellbeing of all students through the building of respectful relationships between the student and the teachers, and the teachers with the parents/wider community. In order for this to occur, schools require a set of guidelines as to what to do in certain situations, and how to manage the behaviour and wellbeing of the students; otherwise known as a behaviour management plan. By definition, a behaviour management plan is a guide that provides teachers with a series of actions to guide a child’s behaviour, (ECTARC, 2018). A behaviour management plan is developed by a group of educators who formulate it, in conjunction with the staff of the school, the parents and management. (ECTARC, 2018). The creation of an effective behavioural management plan allows for the development of a productive and manageable learning environment (Teaching Matters, 2018). Such plans are usually influenced by the ethos and values of the school, the policies referenced and the community environment where the school is situated. In the present report, the behaviour management approaches and context of two schools, School A and School B, will be investigated and compared, (Psych4Schools, 2011; Egeberg, McConney & Price, 2016). School A School A is an academically selective all-boys Secondary School whose vision is to develop and maintain a learning environment where the achieve excellence in all fields, with the added expectation that students are required to strive for their personal best within the ethical framework umbrella of integrity and responsibility. This vision is reinforced by a strong wellbeing system. School A states that it values respectful relationships with students, peers, staff and the wider community and supports the students’ social, academic/intellectual and creative endeavours by nurturing their passions as they develop, through broad curricula and diverse co-curricular activities, (School A website, 2018; School A Annual Report 2017). It appears that School A is influenced by the PBLS system as the school promotes three main values of respect, responsibility and integrity that penetrates all aspects of School A’s framework. This is consistent with the school’s vision and values because there is in concurrence with their claims, an active wellbeing program
