You will analyse the information presented in the case study. d. You will present your analysis along with recommendations in a report. 3. Preparing the report; a. Prepare the format suitable for the purpose. Use the template provided as a guide. i. Linespacing 1.5 or 2 ii. Include a table of contents. iii. Use meaningful headings and subheadings b. Analysing the issues; i. Identify the existing structure by analyzing the information given in the case study of how the organization has been set up. ii. Consider the structural issues associated with the organisation. (What are the characteristics of existing structure and what are the disadvantages of such structure) iii. Consider the cultural issues associated with the organisation. (Use the Competing values framework in your analysis) c. Provide a discussion of the issues identified i. Individual Report: Case Study M & D IT Pvt Ltd (MDIT) is a medium size IT company based in Melbourne. They have 120 employees. Their main business areas are; 1. IT infrastructure implementation 2. IT support 3. Cyber security consulting MDIT has a hierarchical organizational structure with three departments specialised in the above three business areas. In addition, they have following departments providing support services to the company; 1. Accounting and Finance Department 2. Human Resource Department 3. Sales Department MDIT mainly serves business clientele. They have a loyal customer base; however, as of recent some customers were not happy with the company as MDIT was not able to meet the service levels agreed with the customers. In addition, MDIT business growth has been well below the industry growth. Ian Murray and Jenny Darling are the co-owners of the company and they have built this company during the past 20 years. They have hired you as a business consultant to help them grow their business as well improve customer satisfaction. Ian has recently conducted an employee survey and has provided you with the results. Some of the employee comments are given below; “We do not have enough staff to do the work.” “We have too many managers and assistant managers. We do not have enough people to do the job” “Decision making process in the company takes too long. Too much paper work and too many approvals to get – to implement any thing around here” “People are working in silos; nobody wants to help other departments even though we are all in the same industry” “It is about the culture of this company. We cannot attract new recruits. Even the ones we recruit, do not stay with us for long” “There is too much red tape and hierarchy. We can do so much better, if we collaborate” You are required to present a report to Ian and Jenny with your recommendations. Introduction
Contemporary business world is filled with competition within which if an organization is not able to change and adapt to the instant necessities, it is bound to fall behind. The following report discusses the problems faced by an organization which is not being able to deliver its services as needed and how change is necessary for further growth and development of the company. T
he chosen company is MDIT situated in Melbourne with 120 employees. They provide services in areas of IT support, IT Infrastructure implementation and Cyber security consulting operating under three specialized departments. Additionally there are other supportive departments of Accounting and Finance, Human Resources and Sales. The company has a hierarchical organizational structure. MIDT has many loyal customers who have now started to become dissatisfied with the services of the company as it has not been able to provide what is asked of. The company is considerably below the average industry growth. The employees working in the company are not much satisfied with the company's arrangements and way of doing the job. MIDT was built during the last 20 years by two co-workers named Jenny Darling and Ian Murray who have now resorted to hiring a professional to help identify the problems and bring about the suitable changes to save the company from collapsing. The reporter has been given a list of feedback that has been gathered from the employees of the company which serves as a base for identifying the problems of the company faced by the employees. The following report will address the problems of the company, the importance of and effects of organizational culture, the need for a proper organizational structure for MDIT along with the recommendations that will guide the company in making the necessary changes for its development.
Issues in current organization
In the current time, M&D IT Pvt ltd is going through a torrid time as the unity in the management team and the employees have serious taken a step back. For the last 20 years Ian Murray and Jenny Darling have mostly conducted business with an adequate amount of emphasis on customer satisfaction but apparently the stronghold that they had in the stability of the organization is slowly starting to loosen up. This has been indicated in the survey conducted by Ian to get the responses regarding the current failure to serve the clients with quality service. Teamwork, feels like a big issue that the company, M&D IT Pvt ltd is facing at the present moment where the employees on the floor are discontented with the whole management group and it is creating a conflict of interest. The recent failure to provide quality service to the clients also revealed that the number of employees on the floor is not enough to pull off quality service in a specific timeframe. It is also a fact that the company is having a hard time attracting new recruits and keeping the old ones for longer time. It seems like employees are leaving the company due to some problems with the culture and structure of M&D IT Pvt ltd. The employees have also voiced a concern about the structure as they think there are too many managers and not enough employees and this is the reason for the recent failure to provide quality service to the clients and the sooner it is sorted out the better for the organization. The employees also thing there isn't much coordination between the employees of the three different spectrums of M&D IT Pvt ltd as the employees prefer to work solo and do not offer much help to the employees belonging to the other spectrum which causes delay in production and lack of teamwork.
