You may find the following SDG Industry Matrix report from the United Nations Global Compact and KPMG a useful starting point as well as other publications provided in the United Nations Global Compact Library. The list of sections below provides the issues that you need to consider and address in your report: 1 What three (3) SDGs do you consider are the most relevant to the sector (in terms of positive and negative impact on the society and the environment)? 2 What strategies could be implemented in order to meaningfully contribute toward these the three (3) SDGs? What would be appropriate targets and/or indicators to evaluate these strategies? Submission Instructions Submission is online via Cloud Deakin Submissions are required to be in MS Word (or compatible) format You must keep a backup copy of every assignment you submit, until the marked assignment has been returned to you. In the unlikely event that one of your assignments is misplaced, you will need to submit your backup copy. Abstract (approx. 100 words; not included in word count) Type in a short abstract that briefly describes the purpose of the project, and what the main findings are. Page 4 of 5 Appendix (optional) Additional Information Submission of Report Students are required to submit only an electronic copy of their report (in MS Word) in the area provided on Cloud Deakin by 23h59 on the due date. Supporting diagrams Use tables and diagrams where appropriate. All tables and diagrams must be numbered, labelled and briefly explained in the text of your paper e.g. “Table 2 shows the GDP growth of the main economies ....” Font Use a 12-point font. (Times New Roman or Arial). The report should be 1.5 line spaced with an extra line space between each paragraph. Please use page numbers and indicate at the end of your report the word count. Word Count The word limit is 1500 words (=/-10%) and will be strictly adhered to. A 10% penalty (from the available marks) will apply for deviating from this word limit. You will be notified by an announcement on CloudDeakin. Students are expected to regularly check CloudDeakin for such announcements. Notes • Penalties for late submission: The following marking penalties will apply if you submit an assessment task after the due date without an approved extension: 5% will be deducted from available marks for each day up to five days, and work that is submitted more than five days after the due date will not be marked. You will receive 0% for the task. 'Day' means working day for paper submissions and calendar day for electronic submissions. 1.0 Introduction
The concept of susta
inable development goals (SDGs) may be considered to be one of the most critical aspects of the study of any industry with respect to the United Nation’s pre-determined benchmark of achieving sustainability and holistic growth and development on the global front. The SDGs as pronounced and laid down by the UNs may be conceived to be success-critical not only for the industry and business but for the society as a whole as well. This is because of the fact that the SDGs primarily revolve around the environment and related stability for the planet and ethical framework as well. The instant report delves into a brief and concise analysis of the tourism and leisure industry in the context of SDGs. The UN has presented three SDGs for the chosen industry which may need to be adhered by the industry players in order to arrive at the holistic development framework and long-term sustainability for the business and society in most optimum manner.
