After learning more about what GCU is all about by reading the GCU doctrinal statement and Christian Identity and Heritage, how do you think GCU’s Christian heritage makes the GCU academic experience different than at a non-faith-based university? What value will this difference add to your educational experience?
Your response must be 150-200 words.

Re:Topic 1 Question: Integration of Faith and LearningA manager’s personal views and faith affect the overall behavior of the organization in multiple ways. For instance, when I was a supervisor at a fraud department, I used my faith to reach out and connect to my team. This faith allowed me to connect deeply with a woman who had post-partum depression and had been struggling with it for over two years. I was able to minister to her, due to my own experience with depression, and I stayed connected with her even when I left the company. I have seen her life change for the better in so many ways. She’s lost weight, changed her diet, and has grown closer to her family than ever before. That is all God moving in her, I am sure of it. I like to think that our conversation about her finding help and learning to take care of herself played a role in it, but even if it didn’t I’m just glad that I was able to be there for her when she was contemplating ending everything. When a person in charge is able to connect with their employees at an intimate, faith-based level, then change happens—and it’s always for God’s glory. Which means it’s for our good!

Re:Topic 1 Question: Integration of Faith and LearningFaith is an enigma. It is personal and mysterious. It does not always have to be about religion, but whether of a religious influence or some other influence, faith or lack of it, is engrained in our personalities and behaviors, without even realizing it. It is part of who we are. I think a manager’s personal faith plays a large roll in the nature and performance of a company. A manager who has faith in the general goodness of people, will be more understanding about intentions of their employees when mistakes are made. My current manager always says, “people do not get up in the morning intending to come to work and make mistakes”. Her willingness to have faith that her employees are doing the best that they can, creates a work environment that helps employee’s feel appreciated. This in turn overflows in the way each employee treats coworkers and customers each day.
