Re:Topic 1 DQ 2
Personally, I think my graduate school experience will have quite a bit difference from my undergraduate experience. The two biggest differences for me will be 1. The online aspect as I am a big interactive person and have only taken on ground. 2. The few years gap between school. It’s kind of like learning the fundamentals of education systems and tools again.
A graduate study learning community to me would be described as a group of students collaborating and working towards a common goal of higher education completion. I think the key components of a learning community in any circumstance is consistent communication and effort. I do think a major difference would be the different stages of life everyone is in. Graduate learning communities accompany much more diverse age ranges as well as more mature established adults. Pertaining to the online factor, like our reading says, “The formation of community cannot be guaranteed any more than in face-to-face courses where many students drive to campus to take classes, sit in the back row, and do not engage their colleagues or professor in the learning process” (Maddix, 2010, Pg. 12.)
Communication and Collaboration expectations are a little higher in my opinion for graduate communities. For example, most of us have much more going on in our lives: family, jobs, bills, children, relationships, etc.…. which may make it harder but even more critical to hold ourselves accountable. However, I can see the flip side of that as now it may be kind of on us (ourselves) as adults to complete the task. If not, you are wasting your own time and money as opposed to maybe a professor’s time and parents money in some cases. Certainly different from person to person.

Re:Topic 1 DQ 2My graduate educational experience will be much different from undergraduate experience. I feel the determination to take on this graduate study and also seeking the knowledge and professional as well as personal growth. The undergraduate experience includes the basic knowledge, support of learning and applying initial skill to work in a specific career. I just really want to finish school and get a job and pay the bills. Now I really want to seek and analyze, evaluate, and create new working frames. Time management will be very challenging for me and I need to priorities between work, family and kids and school.
A graduate learning community is a group of students who collaborate on ideas, share each other knowlege and support positive growth between others and build a network that can enables them to reach their goals.
The key component of a learning community is the process that we wiil be transformed and we will become part of the community. The undergraduate learning community can provide and support learning, applying theories to real world.
I think communication and collaboration expectations are still a bit different in a graduate learning community than undergraduate community. It is very important that we need to use effective communication skills in classroom discussions at an acceptable graduate setting. We need to use personal experience, further research, lectures or course materials to support our ideas. Collaboration is a part of learning community. For example: If we have a group project due next week, we need to communicate to each other and collaborate each other to finish and submit our assigments on time.
