Sean BrettYesterday Oct 30 at 8:49am Hi Marcus,
You had stated that in almost every organization, it has been noticed that the leader is viewed as an entity symbolizing fear, aura and awe, which are usually not looked up as friendly traits or the trait that eases an employee even in the workplace.
I agree with this week's discussion. I believe as well that the majority of leaders within a company and or organization; are not always going to be your friend or on your side. This is because the leaders or leader of a company and or organization; usually has a main goal, and that main goal is usually focused mostly on the needs of the company.
Of course; without employees, it would be much more difficult to run a business. That is why leaders of a business should have respect for their employees. However; in reality this does not always happen. Employees can usually be replaced.
In my current job; my site supervisor, does not like his job, you can tell by his human behavior that he hates working his job. He always complains about everything; and plays the guilt trip on his employees. People have been quitting their jobs recently; due to his disrespectful behavior in the workplace.

Marcus,
Have you considered what Nahavad (2012) has suggested about authentic leadership. He suggested that authentic leadership is at the root of the other concepts. Although charismatic, transformational, spiritual, and positive leaders all have to necessarily have some degree of authenticity, authentic leaders do not necessarily need to be charismatic, transformational, spiritual, or positive. Positive leaders take on positive perspective that guides their approach to leading themselves and others. Value-based, authentic, and positive leadership present opportunities and challenges for leaders. The concepts add considerable richness to the study of leadership by introducing and considering the role of emotions, in the case of value-based and authentic leadership, in the leadership process. Additionally Nahavand suggested the introduction of hope and optimism which is the basis of all three concepts, to understanding leadership is a significant contribution. What do you think of this?
