The BPG has to be well supported with current practice literature. I envision the BPG to be in the form of a decision Tree (see attached example), however, it will be different and more up to date comparted to the example I am providing. The decision tree will become an appendix in the paper itself, however, in the body of the paper in the BPG section we will describe the decision tree and speak about all the resource tools front line staff can use for delirium management (for example CAM ICU assessment tool or delirium pre screening tools etc). I anticipate the story to be 1.5 pages double spaced and BPG to be 3-4 pages double spaced. Thanks Assignment: Group Paper Value: 40% of final grade In groups of no more than 4 (preferably 3), write a 10 page paper (not including references or appendices) in which you write a first draft of a best practices guideline for Delirium in Adult Hospitalized Patients. Delirium Care Story: Once you have decided on a group, discuss pain care among yourselves and as a group write a story about delirium care for a hospitalized patient that begs for the development of a best practices document to guide nursing practice. Write the story in a storytelling format in about 1 to 1 .5 pages. ….. I would like the story to be about acute onset delirium in critically ill hospitalized ICU patients. Ethics and Pain Care: Using the MN Framework concepts of ontology, epistemology, and ethics, reflect on the story and speak to what a nurse needs to attend to relative to these concepts when caring for the actors in your story. Background Literature: Next provide the background literature that relates to your topic including delirium prevalence in hospitalized patients, existing guidelines for care, and a review of empirical literature. You MUST cite at least 4 peer reviewed papers that can include quantitative, qualitative, mixed methods research or a systematic review. Best Practice Guideline Development: Now write a first draft of a best practices guideline drawing on the research and other relevant literature you retrieved. Then delineate who you would consult with in writing these guidelines (be specific about the roles and reasons why this person is important to consult with) and who you would engage with in a collaborative working relationship to move your work from a draft to a final document (be specific about why you would consult with these particular people). Your guidelines must be supported with literature references of primary studies and secondary reviews. Grade Grid 1. Write the Story (15 marks or 15%). 2. Discuss the ontological, epistemological, and ethical considerations (15%). 3. Provide your reader with a succinct introduction to the background & significance (15%). 4. Develop the Best practices guideline. (25%) 5. Describe who you would consult and collaborate with to ensure a cogent document and why (10%). 6. Write a 300-500 word individual reflection on your most important learning in writing this group paper (10%). This section could be an appendix that includes all group members’ reflections. 7. In about 300-500 words, each group member is to provide feedback to a best practices document posted by at least one other group. (10%)
