A planned and well-developed decision and effective execution is a key for the success. Just a thrown decision is not the point here, strategic decision is which converts an organization’s dream into reality. Making decision for managers is important not only for operation and success of organization but it must consider employees and other stakeholders (Negulschu & Doval, 2014). Decisions are always made under some constraints. Every decision made under different constraints may have its different effectiveness. An effective decision depends upon understanding and appreciation of constraints of the environment (Dean & Sharfman, 1996). Such as pressure from time, clients, work load, stress, pressure from boss etc all things matter in the quality of decision made at that time and measures the effectiveness that decision. Situation, time and environment greatly affects the quality of decision made by any managers or professionals (Ytangi et al, 2012). Age, gender and risk-taking capabilities in an individual are also governing factors for an effective decision (Lauriola & Levin, 2001). This concludes that decisions made under certain constraints have their different level of effectiveness. For instance, a decision made within a time frame and without a time frame has by far vast difference. Aim and Objectives: The core aim of this research is to investigate the relation between the effectiveness of decision that are made under different type of constraints. The objectives which will justify this research aim will be, · To study the effectiveness of decision made under time pressure · To create a data supporting the result for my finding · To find how different constraint determine productivity of a decision · To find how to take best decisions under different constraint · To evaluate ways to deal with different constraint and decide an effective decision. Methodology: Literature review and data collection: Literature on the topic of effectiveness of decision that are made under pressure and the results brought by that decision will be studied. Organization and success mainly depends upon this decision made under various factors. So, literature available will be studied and reviewed as a reference. Literature will be collected from university online library, text books from university library in Melbourne campus, from google scholar, and some other online resources like websites and blogs. Secondary data: Secondary data would be collected related to this topic from sources available. Information in accordance with decisions that are made under pressure will be considered most. Since, environmental factors affect the effectiveness of decision made and research has been done under various constraints, secondary data will be collected from these researches but only for reference. Further, data will be collected from surveys (questionnaire, email), interviews, online survey. Data analysis: To analyse the matter, various data will be collected and interviews will be conducted with organizational peoples. Not only this, online surveys will also be done. Qualitative approach: Questionnaire will be prepared and requested via online and email to staff of various organization through online sources. Also, there will be discussion with effectiveness matter with willing employee of some organizations. Quantitative approach: The analysed data will be showed up in chart and bar graph between the constraints and effectiveness of the decision. References: Byrne, Silasi-Mansat, & Worthy. (2015). Secondary data:Comment by tarikul islam: You need to specify the sources. You will be marked down if you failed to mention this in your final project proposal (Assignment 3).Also need to say what data from these sources that you collect and to address what objectives.Whether these data are available online or have access to anyone to do research. Secondary data would be collected related to this topic from sources available. Information in accordance with decisions that are made under pressure will be considered most. Refer to the relevant chapter of the textbook and fix this issue in the assignment 3 otherwise you will be marked down. To analyse the matter, various data will be collected and interviews will be conducted with organizational peoples. Not only this, online surveys will also be done. Qualitative approach: Comment by tarikul islam: Confusing, you must fix this in the research proposal. 1.0: Introduction
Each organization works in the industry with the help of market analysis, strategy making, and promotion of products and delivery of quality products and services to the end users. In this context, each newcomer in the business industry wants to play an effective role in the organization and meet the given responsibilities timely to achieve organizational goals and objectives (Kwamie, van Dijk & Agyepong, 2014). In this context, it is expected from the business managers that they will use the managerial expertise in their daily practices to ensure the success of the organization. It is also required from the managers that they will lead the organization effectively through the help of their followers (Lunenburg, 2011). Hence, they need some skills to ensure the perfect analysis of the situations related to business and get the right output from the followers.
The topic of this research study is about the “Investigation of Effectiveness of Decisions Made Under Various Constraints”. In the present business scenario, when the level of competition has been reached sky level and the customers’ retainment is a most important aspect for the business for their future growth (Popovič, et al, 2012). Therefore, organizations are seeing towards that strategies and policies which may help them to ensure the long-term survival in the competitive market by earning competitive growth. With the help of these strategies, the organizations also want to address the demand and wants of the customers and try to secure their satisfaction as well as their loyalty (Mitchell, Shepherd & Sharfman, 2010). Therefore, several organizations have started to use the various constraints related to business in the organizational decision-making process to sustain business in the present business scenario.
They apply various constraints as a problem-solving tool to ensure the timely decision making (Hacklin & Wallnöfer, 2012). For example, time is an important constraint that is considered by organizational managers for making every decision. This is because that any delay in the decision may not help the organization to achieve the objectives. As a result, the organization may not achieve the objectives which intend the organizational managers to make business decisions.
Many organizations use constraints based decision making as a tool to analyze the situations related to the business and achieving the business growth and development (Sharma, Mithas & Kankanhalli, 2014). By focusing towards the decision-making process of Common Wealth Bank and Vodafone Australia, it can be said that the consideration of different constraints related to business in decision making helps the organizations to serve customers in a more successful manner. Wixom, Yen & Relich (2013) say that for gaining competitive benefits in the concerned market, organizations found that the management needs to consider various constraints that are related with their business and be needed to use in the organizational decision making.
This research study has followed the below-defined structure which is:
Section 1 is defined as the introduction of the research proposal. After this section, the problem statement, research objectives and research questions, justification for the proposed proposal as well as the expected outcomes have addressed under research proposal Sections 2 and section 3 correspondingly. Afterward, Section 4 discusses the conceptual framework that is also followed by research methodology defined in Section 5. At last, Section 6 describes the organization of this research study with budget requirements and Gantt chart.
2.0: Problem Statement
Within an organization, the entire decisions are taken place after the analysis of some constraints which are related to the business or customers. It means the decision made by the decision makers by considering the different factors may give the different effects to the organization or business activities (Wu & Pagell, 2011).
For an organization, the effective decision can take place if the decision makers have developed their understanding towards the environment related constraints and appreciation to them in considering the decision-making process (Phipps, 2011). Some constraints that are mainly considered by the managers are stressed, clients, time, workload, pressure from top management level, and external environmental factors such as changes in business policies by the government or the competition in the market.
According to Dimitratos, et al (2011), environment, time and situations are also affecting the decision-making process and its quality.
The decision-making process within an organization also depends on the decision makers’ gender, age and capability of risk-taking. It means these factors govern the process of decision making that also influences the effectiveness of taking decisions.
It is also concluded that the decisions made by managers under various constraints have different effects on the organizations. For example, a decision that is made by the managers within and without a particular time frame has a vast difference in their impacts on organizations.
Although many researchers through their research study, have been defined different aspects related to the decision making and its effectiveness for the production activities, marketing activities, and organizational sustainability. But the lack of the research study related to the effectiveness of various constraints related to the business decision that means it is tough to say that use of constraints in decision making is effective for the organizations. In this context, the aim of this research study is to find out the effectiveness of business-related various constraints in the organizational decision-making process. This report, therefore, focuses on the different organizations that are presentable working in the Australian market and give the importance to the various constraints such as time, economic, political environment, competition or the need of the customers.
