1.How would you explain the analysis of variance, assuming that your audience has not had a statistics class before? Be specific. Define terms, break down concepts, use an example. You must define any term that you use. Remember that this is for a novice; use an example to go through the ANOVA process. Be sure to explain how significance is determined in simple terms as well.

2. What is an interaction? Describe an example; what are the variables within your population (work, social, academic, etc.) for which you might expect interactions?

Define a statistical interaction and how it affects your results. Give an example. List the variables that are interacting and why.

3.What is an example in the world around you for which you would use a Chi-square analysis? Be specific. Describe what chi square tests and how your example is relevant. You may describe a Chi Square test, but you must also include a real-world example of a study that could use Chi Square. Do not copy and paste an example from the internet. Create your own.

4.Now that you are familiar with the basic concepts of statistics, what are some examples of when you have seen or heard statistics used inappropriately? Use the knowledge that you have obtained to be specific with this question.

Assignment Title- Discussion Question
Analysis of Variance (ANOVA): let us take random samples of students of class V from three different schools and
note down there marks in annual examination. If we want to explain to someone that how a class as performed in annual exam, what is the way? We can tell the average marks of the class and on the basis of that average (we can take mean marks which is total marks of a class divided by total number of students in that class ) we can say that this class has higher average so the performance of it is better than other. But we can also see that marks of students differ from other within a class and between classes of different schools. We can see that total variation in marks of students is due to two components : within a class of a school and between different schools.
“This way of partitioning the total variation present in a set of observable data (such in above example is) into many components associated with the type of classification of the data. As in above example we classified total data according to class V of three different schools hence we have two types of variation component: within school and between school. ”
Let us take our example further to understand the process of ANOVA. Let there be 8 student each in class V of each of three schools A ,B and C and there marks are given below in table no 1.1.

H0=hypothesis to be tested= different schools do have effect on marks obtained by students of class V of these schools.
Calculation for ANOVA is given in table 1.2 below
