Discussion 11: Charlie Villegas Media Comment Attach File Submission Details Grade: / 2 Discussion 11 Discussion 11  This is a graded discussion: 2 points possible due Nov 10 Discussion 11 5 9 Assignment Discussion 11 will be your self-analysis for Speech 3, the informative speech. It will be very similar to the first two self-analyses. That means you should write an essay (approx. 750-1000 words). One way to do this is to treat each question as the topic for a separate paragraph. Your essay should have an introduction, a thesis, a body, and a conclusion. Each paragraph should have a topic sentence. You should use examples from your speech to support your points. +Where do you see the most improvement since the beginning of the semester? +What went well? +What turned out better than you expected? +What still needs work? +What steps will you take to make those improvements? +What makes you think that you explained a concept, and why do you think your audience needed this concept explained? +How did you hope the outside resources would enhance your speech? Did you use them successfully? +How do you feel about the way you incorporated the research into your speech? Is it clear to your audience why your sources should be trusted? Did you use sources that confirmed your point of view, or did you research with an open mind? +How did you decide on what visual aids to use and where to use them? What did you hope they would add to your speech? Do you think they were successful? Criteria for Evaluation As usual, I’m happy to give full credit to anyone who completes the assignment, but I expect you to demonstrate critical thinking and to write with discipline. If you do not have an essay, I will deduct points. If you write an essay but do not sufficiently develop the paragraphs/ideas, you could lose points. By “do not sufficiently develop” I mean that the paragraphs do little more than provide one- or two-sentence answers to the questions. Paragraphs provide support, often in the form of specific examples. Remember, I mostly want to see you thinking critically. I also recommend using MLA or APA style and formatting. Your instructors notice these things, I promise. Add a Comment: Submit Assignment Save

A Journey to Express Myself
Expressing oneself in the right manner is one of the most complicated things human beings can do. Some people possess the ski
lls of expression naturally, while others like me, have to struggle to get it done correctly. Through my learning so far, I have understood that expressing oneself is a learnable skill and that all it requires is practice. My learning journey so far is a proof of this fact.
Since the beginning of the semester I have noticed how my thinking and way of expressing has changed. In the beginning, I concentrated and struggled on the best way to express my thoughts. In this regard, I often found myself insufficient and my explanations weren’t very adequate. However, now, I can say with some confidence that my expressing abilities have improved greatly. For example, I can now explain concepts, like social media, as I did in my speech, which I would have previously struggled to explain.
Several things went well since the beginning of the semester. I learnt about so many different ideas, ways of expression and difficult to define terms, objects and thoughts. This learning enhanced my confidence and helped me feel more comfortable with both my writing and speaking skills. I also learnt how to convey my thoughts sequentially and this has helped me develop logical thinking. The speech structure that we followed in developing our speech showed me how to explain myself without getting confused or confusing others.
In the beginning, I thought that concepts were too complicated and...
